Chromatography

The laboratory contains semi-preparative liquid chromatographic equipment and can apply both conventional columns and fast centrifugal partition chromatography (FCPC). The unit is suitable for separation of a broad range of natural compounds but is designed particularly for the separation of lipids and fatty acids. Additional equipment for characterization of natural compounds is available at the University of Bergen.

Available equipment:

• Conventional semi-preparative liquid chromatography capable of flows up to 50 ml/min
• FCPC unit capable of flows up to 10 ml/min
• Ultraviolet and evaporative light scattering detection (ELSD)
• Automated sample injection and fraction collection
